Honduras Mission Trip

 ’09 Honduras Mission Trip

In less than 3 months, the Wesley Volunteers In Mission will be heading to Honduras.  We leave on Saturday, February 7th and return on Saturday, February 14th.  Those of us who are committed to going are:

 The United Methodist Church Volunteers In Mission has been instrumental in establishing The United Methodist Church in Honduras.  This is a growing and dynamic network of 12 churches that has a membership of approximately 500 people with an average attendance at the main worship service of 1250!

 

 Wesley’s team is going to be serving the people of Quisqualagua near Danli with community service and construction.  This appears to be a new area of mission work and is about two hours east of Tegucigalpa, Honduras.  We will find out more about our work as the date approaches.

 Are you interested in joining the Wesley team?  We have one or two positions left.  What you need to do is call one of us listed below, make a $100 deposit, get a passport (you still have time!), and check on immunizations.  Total cost is $1300 and we do have some scholarship dollars available.  Give us a call…we would love to have you join us.

 What can you do to be a part of this mission?

 

 We will be collecting supplies and working tools needed to bring on the trip.  There are also items needed to help youth and adults of Honduras, such as children’s books (in Spanish), crayons, markers, construction paper, clothing of all sizes, toothbrushes, etc.  We will get a list of these items as we get closer to going.

 

 Financial donations are welcome for purchasing our construction materials when we are in Honduras and providing part of our scholarships.  Checks can be made out to Wesley UMC and earmarked “2009 Honduras Mission Trip”.

 

 Prayer partners wanted.  Each and every one of the Wesley family can pray for this mission trip, the mission team, and the people of Honduras.  In addition, we would like to assign each team member to a prayer partner to be lifted up each day of the trip.  Please contact Jessica Williams at 865-1615 if you would like to do this.
