Meet Loronda Schuler, Minister of Health & Congregational Care

& Associate Pastor at Wesley

Loronda gained her BA in Nursing at Jamestown College in Jamestown, North Dakota. Loronda has worked for over 30 years in hospital and home care based nursing and has spent the last 11 of those years as a Parish Nurse. Loronda completed her Parish Nurse training through Concordia College, Moorhead, MN and has served Wesley United Methodist Church since 1997.

She graduated from Luther Seminary, St. Paul, MN in 2005 and was commissioned and licensed at the 2006 Minnesota United Methodist Annual Conference as a probationary deacon.  She now serves Wesley as the associate Pastor and the Minister of Health and Congregational Care.  Although she is now a Pastor her ministry of parish nursing is encompassed in her new expanded roll in the church.  You will also find her filling the pastoral role by preaching on occasion and assisting with many parts of worship.

Loronda finds parish nursing to be a unique blend of ministry and nursing and an exciting way to serve God’s people. She serves the congregation through visitation to the sick, elderly and shut-in. She provides health counseling and education to all members and helping the congregation to gain a fuller understanding of the close relationship between faith and health. She also coordinates the South West MN Parish Nurse network and serves on the board of the Minnesota United Methodist Parish Nurse Network.

Loronda also facilitates a 6-week session of Body, Mind and Spirit class which focuses on weight loss and healthy life styles. Once students have “graduated” they continue to meet, study and share support with each other. The Body, Mind and Spirit class is ecumenical and available to the entire community.  Other education is provided throughout the church year via the Wesley Welcome and occasional classes.  In the past they have included visitation training, Kneel and Knit which is a group committed to using the gift of knitting (or crocheting) to make bandages, caps, sweaters etc. for those in need along with bible study and sharing this gift with those who want to learn.

Loronda is available for health counseling and the pastoral care needs of the congregation.

Pastor Loronda is usually in Monday and Wednesday. (Other times available by appointment) Loronda can be reached at the office at 532-4010 or by emailing healthmin@wesleyumc.org
